Advanced Preparation

Read the Background Information for this module and review the PowerPoint presentations, Introduction to groundwater, karst, and the Edwards Aquifer and Hydrograph. Notes Pages for the PowerPoint presentations can be printed by selecting File>Print>Print what>Notes Pages. The student versions of Hydrograph One and Hydrograph Two should be copied to a folder on a public computer server where each computer used by a student can access it. You must do this the day before the students are expected to do the learning activity in class. Pre-select the years for Hydrograph Two by opening the Teacher's Edition of Hydrograph Two and examining the chart, “Rainfall vs. spring flow between 1980-2002”. It would be a good idea to print out copies of each year you choose in case of printer or severe student error. Likewise, print several copies of the Teacher's Edition of Hydrograph One. You may also wish to visit some of the web resources listed below to increase your content knowledge or assist in planning extensions to the activity.
