Now that I have been to several Cohort meetings, I have realized that my dream of teaching Earth and Space Science at a nearby High School is just that, a dream. For me to be able to accomplish this my Middle School Principal would have to get me up for two periods, one would be my Conference Period and the other one when I currently teach. This would require that those students add to already full classes and would not be fair to my students. In addition, I would be unavailable for planning with the other 7th grade science teachers.

At the outset, I was looking forward to increasing my understanding of Geology and my expectations were the same. In addition, I had hopes of using this course as a springboard to becoming certified as a Earth and Space Science teacher. I believed that with this certificate, I would be able to offer myself to teach this class at the nearby High School.

This activity causes the students to look at the flow rates of the water discharging the Barton Springs versus the amount of rainfall in the recharge area. In addition, it compares the amount of rain in the recharge area against the stream discharge rate. These items promote a student’s understanding of Solid Earth TEK 112.XX (b) (2) (B) because they use data within a chronological framework.
The students will be engaged in the acquiring, processing and analyzing science data (TEK 112.XX) gathered from historical data recorded for the Barton Springs portion of the Edwards Aquifer.
