TXESS Revolution Provider Workshop

LEARN HOW TO BECOME A PROVIDER OF TXESS REVOLUTION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

TXESS Revolution - Professional Development Provider Workshop
Learn How to Deliver Professional Development to Teachers in Your Region using the TXESS Revolution Model

Saturday June 23 – Monday June 25, 2012

Over a period of five years, the TXESS Revolution teacher professional development model was created, tested and evaluated using funds from the National Science Foundation, Jackson School of Geoscience at The University of Texas at Austin, and the Texas Regional Collaboratives for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching. Important elements of the TXESS Revolution model which have proven extremely successful include: extended training workshops for a period of 2 years for a cohort of teachers, a focus on raising content knowledge and content self-assurance of teachers in the program, the use of inquiry-based and research-tested curriculum in the workshops, and a connection of teachers with local experts in Earth and Space Science. Come for this 2.5-day workshop and learn how you can implement the TXESS Revolution Model in your region or state to further opportunities for teachers and their students in the Earth and Space Sciences. The workshop will take place at The University of Texas at Austin, beginning Saturday morning first thing, with a break on Sunday morning, and then continuing through until evening on Monday. Please contact Hilary Olson (olson at ig.utexas.edu) to find out more about the workshop or to register. Participant costs will be covered through our grant.
